Kim, a true story - Framed Art
In the golden era of the '70s, when the roads were less traveled and adventure was in the air, there roamed a legendary surfer and scribe named Kim. With sun-bleached hair and a spirit that hungered for the horizon, Kim became a myth, a nomadic soul who journeyed from the cobblestones of Amsterdam to the rugged landscapes of Afghanistan. His trusty steeds weren't stallions but a quirky caravan of pugs, each with a personality as robust as the engine of his azure Mercedes.
The pugs, adorned with goggles and scarves fluttering like flags of freedom, were his co-conspirators, as they sped across continents, their laughter and barks dissolving into the desert wind. Together, they smuggled the finest hashish, hidden within surfboards and camera equipment, always a shutter-click away from being immortalized as outlaws of the dunes.
Their car, a tapestry of travel stickers and tales, billowed clouds of dust as they carved a path through shifting sands. The journey was never about the destination but the stories etched in time, of a man and his pugs who rode the wave of life, leaving behind a trail of tales and the scent of adventure.
Images are framed in randomly painted frames in bright colors, printed on archival paper with pigmented inks, sizes range from between 5 x 7 to 8 x 10
My creative process begins with a photograph I've taken, which serves as the initial spark of inspiration. From there, I transition to a hand sketch to flesh out my vision, capturing the essence and dynamics of the scene with pencil and paper. This sketch lays the groundwork for the final artwork, serving as a blueprint for the collaboration that follows. I then partner with AI technology to bring the sketch to life, utilizing its capabilities to add depth through shading and coloring. This fusion of traditional artistry and cutting-edge technology allows for a unique blend of precision and creativity, resulting in artwork that is vibrant, detailed, and full of life.
My work is deeply rooted in my experiences as an ex-professional racer, drawing from a profound love for Baja, the ocean, and the desert. Having spent my entire life living in Baja and the American Southwest desert, my art is a reflection of the landscapes that have shaped me and the adventurous spirit of off-road racing that has defined much of my life. My artwork is not just a representation of these places but an homage to the exhilarating challenge of racing through them, capturing the essence of freedom and the raw beauty of these untamed environments. My journey from the racetrack to the canvas is fueled by a passion for capturing the spirit of adventure and the unbreakable bond between man, machine, and nature.
